Manchester Imaging is a dental diagnostic software company that has developed software to automatically detect caries (decay) from dental x-ray images. The software is based on computer vision and machine learning technology and has been developed to help dentists be more effective at detecting early caries at a point at which preventative treatments or interventions can delay or stop progression. Manchester Imaging is a spin out company from the University of Manchester and is based on a decade of academic collaboration between Professor Hugh Devlin, Professor of Restorative Dentistry, and Dr Jim Graham, an Honorary Reader in the Centre for Imaging Science.
Manchester Imaging has a well rounded, highly experienced and commercially focused leadership team along with patent protected technology developed over many years. This has enabled the company to secure a license and collaboration agreement with a leading multinational dental supplier to commercially launch its diagnostic software.
